Asking for Help: Working Together to Protect Nature
The Nature Nova Scotia Culture Change Initiative recognizes that no single organization, community, or citizen group can address today’s environmental challenges alone. Across Nova Scotia, people are working to protect forests, waters, biodiversity, species, and the places that sustain our communities - often while navigating limited capacity, competing priorities, difficult conversations, or uncertainty about where to begin.
Through this initiative, participating organizations and allies are invited to reach out when they encounter barriers, emerging issues, or opportunities where additional support, ideas, relationships, or collective action may help move the work forward. Organizations are encouraged to bring forward challenges openly and early - whether related to stewardship, public engagement, advocacy, partnerships, education, land-use pressures, ecological concerns, culture change, volunteer mobilization, or strengthening internal alignment around nature. Nature Nova Scotia and its network of allies will strive to listen, connect organizations to relevant expertise and relationships, share promising practices, convene collaborative conversations, and help identify pathways that support positive and lasting outcomes.
This invitation is rooted in a simple belief: we are stronger when we work together. By sharing challenges and learning across organizations and communities, we build collective capacity, deepen trust, and strengthen our ability to care for and protect the lands and waters we cherish. Asking for help is a key way to work interdependently - it is an act of leadership and stewardship that helps create the conditions for nature and communities to flourish together.
